5 short plays have been created from these adaptions of five classic novels: The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens, The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, and the Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Though simplified, they give students a strong flavour of the original stories.
Each play is accompanied by background notes about the author, questions eliciting personal responses to the action, extension activities and suggestions for further reading.
